YIHR starts with ten months long project on analysis of work of courts with the aim to contribute to transparency and efficiency of judicial system in Montenegro. Analysis of legislation framework which regulates these two important issues and the analysis of the very practice related to accessibility of information to citizens and parties in the procedure and efficiency of courts have been planned as the major activities of the project.
Project is being conducted in cooperation with the Efficient Governing Program, financed by USAID, and will be implemented by East West Management Institute (EWMI). Ultimate goal of the program is establishing more transparent, functional, and more open governing institutions and strengthening the role of civil society and private sector as partners of these institutions in Montenegro. Specific accent, in the context of project implementation, is being put on strengthening judicial system, regulative related to promotion of business environment and engagement of nongovernmental organizations relevant for strengthening transparency and responsibility.
YIHR is convinced that the right to fair trail is one of the most important human rights and courts are the key guarantee of human rights respect, which was the reason for establishing and implementing this project. Final reviews have been planned to be presented to public in October, 2011. Team composed of four members who are experts in this area, is engaged on this project.
